Red River Valley Water Supply Project

Greg Bischoff is the Barnes County Director on the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District’s Board.  “I was elected in 2016 for my first term. My father previously served on the Board and through him I became interested in serving,” says Greg.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, Greg also sits on the Red River Valley Committee. “Barnes County and Valley City both have adequate water right now, but we don’t know if that will be the case during a drought. Can we have commercial growth with the water supply we have now, especially in leaner years? I think most of the counties and communities are in a similar position. They are okay currently, but it’s not guaranteed that they’ll have sufficient water during a drought period,” he explains.

Greg says one of the biggest misconceptions about the RRVWSP is that it’s a project that will only benefit Fargo. “It is not just a project for Fargo. Central North Dakota and most of the eastern part of the state can and may need to use water from this project,” he says.

In his free time, Greg enjoys hunting and fishing. He also follows Valley City State University athletics, University of North Dakota hockey and North Dakota State University football.
